~Time For Truth: Trust In Truth~

“We now live in “The Era of Speaking Lies in Hypocrisy”. We live in a time when the mind and spirit of the people have been and are being seduced into accepting, consciously and subconsciously, deception as wicked as the serpent in the story of Adam and Eve. The serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature in the field. Again, the same spirit abides at the highest level of places in the earth.” (1)

What is needed is a time of truth. The TRUTH is what every individual upon the earth is desperately in need of; whether one recognizes it or not every person must know the truth.

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

If not already, at some point in time you will know the truth and at that appointed time the truth will make you free. That is, if the Son will make you free, then you will be really free. (John 8:36)

In past times it seemed that great philosophers and others sought the “truth of life” and would offer their opinion of what is truth. Even Pontius Pilate, the Roman procurator (around A.D. 26-37) asked Jesus Christ, “what is truth”? But did Pilate really want to know the truth?

“Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.” (John 18:38)

Was Pilate afraid of a reply to his rhetorical question to Jesus Christ, since he did not wait for a follow up response to his inquiry? Instead, he immediately “went out again to the Jews”. This was most likely because Jesus had just previously stated to Pilate that “To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” In short, Pilate was afraid of the truth.

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” (John 18:37)

Just as Pontius Pilate was afraid of truth, people today are afraid of the truth. The truth has a way of exposing the inner being of mankind and the light of the truth forces the individual to seek, to follow and know the truth or seek to continue in the path of lies, hypocrisy and deceit. The latter, unfortunately, is what is prevalent today; (vis-à-vis “The Era of Speaking Lies in Hypocrisy”).

What is truth? According to Webster’s Dictionary, truth is defined as: (2)

1. Conformity to fact or reality; exact accordance with that which is, or has been, or shall be. The truth of history constitutes its whole value. We rely on the truth of the scriptural prophecies.
2. True state of facts or things.
3. Conformity of words to thoughts, which is called moral truth.
4. Veracity; purity from falsehood; practice of speaking truth; habitual disposition to speak truth;
5. Correct opinion.
6. Fidelity; constancy.
7. Honesty; virtue.
8. Exactness; conformity to rule.
9. Real fact of just principle; real state of things.
10. Sincerity.
11. The truth of God, is his veracity and faithfulness.
12. Jesus Christ is called the truth
13. It is sometimes used by way of concession.
To do truth, is to practice what God commands.

If you are at all honest and of good character, you will agree that TRUTH is lacking today! We live in a time that “TRUTHLESS” is the prevailing spirit in the lives of leaders, and thus followed by people in general. This is a time of the wanting of truth a time wanting reality. (3)

The first instance of the word truth is found in the Tanakh or Old Testament Book of Genesis, Chapter 24, verse 27.

“And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren.” (Genesis 24:27)

Trust In Truth

The last instance, in the Tanakh or Old Testament, of the word truth is found in the Book of Malachi, Chapter 2 verse 6.

The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. (Malachi 2:6)

This word truth is the Hebrew word אֱמֶת 'emeth (eh'-meth); which means, “stability; (figuratively) certainty, trustworthiness:—assured(-ly), establishment, faithful, right, sure, true (-ly, -th), verity.” (4)

The law of truth is a powerful force. Here reference is made to “the law of truth”, the doctrine or teaching of truth. We, as fallible humans, have the propensity to ignore or simply to violate laws, especially matters related to truth. Teaching by those in authority today have become so polluted that there is little or no truth pertaining to what is being referenced or taught.

A major reason for the breakdown of our way of life is directly related to our lack of adhering to “the law of truth”. We have taken truth out of our day to day existence and yet we wonder why tribulation surrounds us.

Today more and more leaders, and people in general, will not simply trust in truth. It seems that personal agendas and sheer evil take precedence over any law of truth.

Even within the U.S. Government and its legal system, there is a collapse of the law of truth. Now violating the laws of immigration to enter the United States of America
is considered a matter of “compassion” or a “humanitarian” act which must be ignored. Again, there is no truth in the prosecution of law; there is no trust in truth.

The Book of Malachi is a book about stability. Stability is one of the words indicated in the Hebrew definition above for truth. It is about the stability/truth of GOD. As Malachi 3:6 states, “For I am the LORD, I change not”. There is stability in the LORD our GOD because he does not change. The LORD our GOD is truth.

“If we are going to have stability in our lives, not only must we recognize that stable factors must be built into them; we have to recognize the fundamental truth: God himself does not change. This is “the keynote thought of the Book of Malachi.” (5)

In Malachi, the LORD admonishes the priests (the leaders) of the people; “For the priest's lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law…” (Malachi 2:7).

The priests were concealing violence and dealing treacherously with their words; when they say, “every one that does evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delights in them (Malachi 2:16, 17). The law of truth was not in the mouth of the priests, just as in the leaders of today.

“The priests, the religious leaders of the people, are described first in their evil ways, and rebuked. But the rebuke includes the entire people, for it is true, “like priests like people.”” (6)

What was expected of the priests then and of the church leaders today in following the example of CHRIST, our Truth?

1. “The law of truth was in his mouth; the chief duty of a priest is to show the right way of living to the people.

2. “Iniquity was not found in his lips; no falsehood in his doctrines; no deceit, nothing contrary to justice. There was truth.

3. He walked with me in peace and equity; he did nothing to break the peace, it was his aim to live peaceably towards others, that God might make them peaceable toward him.

4. He turned many away from iniquity; by his instructions, and by his excellent example, he converted many from ways of sin.

 Trust In Truth
-Continued-

JESUS CHRIST is truly our example. He is our example of how to speak truth. He is our example of how to avoid falsehood. He is our example of how to walk in peace and equity. He is our example of how to help others. He is our example of how to walk in truth.

“He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.” (Deuteronomy 32:4)

This word “Rock” expresses power and stability, his durable and unchanging perfection, and the safety of trusting in him and reposing on him our hopes for eternity. The Rock is the unchangeable Refuge and Stronghold of his people.

What should we do? Trust in truth; be a person of truth, hear the truth, speak to every person the truth and seek able leaders that fear GOD, who are leaders of truth.

“Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.” (Hosea 4:1)

“These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:” (Zechariah 8:16)

“Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:” (Exodus18:21)

“In ancient Israel, when the nation had turned from God and from his truth and commands as given in Scripture, the prophet Jeremiah cried out that there was death in the city. He was speaking not only of physical death in
Jerusalem but also a wider death. Because Jewish society of that day had turned away from what God had given them in the Scripture, there was death in the polis, that is, death in the total culture and the total society.

In our era, sociologically, man destroyed the base which gave him the possibility of freedoms without chaos. Humanists have been determined to beat to death the knowledge of God and the knowledge that God has not been silent, but has spoken in the Bible and through Christ – and they have been determined to do this even though the death of values has come with the death of that knowledge.” (7)

The cry today, in “The Era of Speaking Lies in Hypocrisy” is for TRUTH. There is spiritual death in the nations, because there is no truth in the people. For the LORD has a controversy with the nations, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.
